To simplify this graphic by the CDC, the recommendation is to work with your pediatrician or child’s PCP to…

1) Provide 2 initial covid vaccines doses of Moderna, or 3 initial covid vaccine doses for Pfizer for unvaccinated children.

-This is considered your child’s initial series for the covid vaccine which is different from your initial series, which would be known as your primary series vaccination of the original Wuhan-Type variant in 2021.

-Children can be vaccinated as early as 6 months of age.

2) Once initial series is completed, a regular yearly dose of 1 vaccine per year.


For Children over 5 years of age, and for everyone else above 12 years of age…

As of ACIP Meeting on 6/27/2024, it is not expected for the recommendations above to change for the 2024-2025 covid vaccine updated formula to JN.1 (Novavax) or KP.2 (Pfizer, Moderna).
